Do you own an Amazon Alexa or another Personal Assistant type of device in your home?
Then you will want to be careful about what you are talking about while around it or to disconnect it entirely. There has been a recent audit of the Amazon Alexa voice assisting and found some scary insights.
It was found that there is a global team that monitors the Alexa system and this team can "easily find" your home address through GPS coordinates and public mapping such as google maps.
This team listens to "random" samplings of voice commands from users and compares what they say to what the Amazon Alexa system does. While it is supposed to be anonymous, there are GPS coordinates so that their system can become more localized; similar to asking siri for pizza places around you.
While Amazon has said that this information in limited in who is able to access this information and that they have tightened the access to this data since this news has started coming out.
But the choice is yours. Do you feel comfortable with companies such as Amazon having access to all this or do you feel this is foreshadowing Big Brother and 1984?
